COVID 19 and Meth

We are beginning our second week of quarantine. Last week we had Kelly, Archer, and the baby. Luckily, the two younger girls still had daycare. This gave us a fighting chance to clean our house “enough” to function. This took several nights of what we call “Meth Cleaning”. I’m not sure if that’s politically correct. When someone is high on meth (or so I’ve been told), he or she has a lot of energy. This person can stay up for hours without feeling sluggish or tired. Of course, when the high is over, the individual crashes and sleeps for a long period of time. When you have 5 kids around, you have to stay up all night to clean. Otherwise, a child will get in the way. The others will make a mess. You will cry. So instead, Angie and I chug Red Bulls and clean like we are high as a kite. Yeah, we crash later, but we crash on a clean couch (relatively clean anyway).

Even with the several days of Meth Cleaning, the second floor is still trashed. We have piles of laundry we need to sort and put away. We have trash cans that need emptying. The bathroom is functional, but could use a good scrub. We were hoping that with my six week quarantine, we could quaranclean (Ok, my bad dad joke is out there now). Yesterday, I received a phone call that the girls’ daycare was closing for at least two days because a parent was diagnosed with COVID 19. Now we are looking at at least five more weeks with all five kids at home.

We are, of course, very thankful that we are healthy and have the necessary supplies (at least for the time being). I’m also extremely blessed to be working for a school system that is still paying their employees. I’m not sure what work will look like over the next few weeks, but it will be nothing short of interesting.

We are currently making arrangements to go to Angie’s family in Salem. Her sister and our nephew came for a visit before the additional levels of shut-down began. We need to get them home, and we need the help. Having the additional family members around will help us to keep the kids from going stir crazy, and we can spread out the attention accordingly. We should probably be staying home and doing the social distancing thing. However, it’s just too much to do by ourselves. We need our village, and our village here has shut down.

Kelly is doing homeschool via worksheets that her teacher sent home. Archer is learning how to share with everyone. The girls are still struggling to reduce their delays. The baby is thriving. In all, the kids are good. We are good. This is all because God is good.

I am glad you are surviving even if you feel that your going crazy at times. When are you going on your adventures? I have all those things for everyone-if you're going to be home Wed morning we could bring them down. Probably around 10 or 10:30 only a drop off cause my caregiver leaves at 12:30 so let me know. Love you💕
